Lucky’s Cafe: The BEST Brunch in Cleveland

Lucky’s Cafe Has The Best Brunch in Cleveland

Lucky’s Cafe in Cleveland, Ohio is famous for brunch. My favorite meal of the day. Brunch does kinda sorta take away one of my opportunities to eat. This means my meal better impress! Breakfast and lunch at once. I mean really, how can you complain?

Places that serve brunch all day, everyday are tough to find. Luckily, Lucky’s Cafe is one of the few. They happily serve breakfast and lunch from 9 am to 3 pm daily. Coffee and pastries are available at the counter from 7 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and starting at 8 am on Saturdays and Sundays.

Basically, you can go any day of the week and find the chefs at Lucky’s Cafe cooking with tons of love and explosions of flavor.  In order to do so, they use fresh and local ingredients to support Ohio farmers and vendors.

House baked naan and rye bread, farm fresh eggs, homemade apple sauce, local honey and maple syrup, organic meats, fresh baked granola and pastries, and even an urban garden outback for salads, herbs, pickles, and flowers for the centerpieces.

All the ingredients that go into Lucky’s Cafe’s famous brunch creations are handpicked to wow you. I must warn you, the combinations can be rather insane.

One of today’s specials was sweet corn griddle cakes topped with a roasted peach compote, pecan bacon bits, a lot larger than a dollop of honey whipped cream, and a caramel sauce drizzle. Sweet, sweet, sweet. It’s the type of dish you look at and say, “Holy moly, how am I going to eat all this”… 20 minutes later it is all gone and you are rolling to the couch. The corn griddle cakes were perfectly moist and jam packed with flavor, but all the toppings were a little too sweet to handle.

Another crazy creation that is always on the menu  is cleverly named the Shipwreck.  Last time I went to Lucky’s Cafe I ordered this. It’s one of those things I like to order when I have no idea what I am in the mood for. It’s a little bit (more like a lot a bit) of everything. Hash browns, eggs, seasonal veggies, bacon, cheddar cheese, como toast, and fresh fruit. I really did enjoy the Shipwreck and regret not ordering it again on this visit.

For some reason, I leaned towards lunch. I never lean towards lunch at brunch, but I guess I was all egged out. I chose the special grilled cheese: white cheddar, yellow cheddar, red onion, and green peppers on white bread served with tomato soup. If I had known that it was on butter soaked white bread I most definitely would have opted for a different bread choice sans butter. It was a cheesy heaven and paired nicely with the thick tomato soup. I could have used double the soup and half of the grilled cheese… I think my arteries would have thanked me.

But that’s exactly what Lucky’s Cafe is. Crazy ideas, huge portions, and tons of passion. Comfort food made with a lot of soul (and a lot of food). Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available but aren’t exactly low-cal at Lucky’s. Everyone leaves full and only the craziest of folks would get a pastry or a baked good to go.

Personally, I could not fit another morsel after this meal! Lucky’s Cafe is always busy, always cooking with love, and always locally inspired. The perfect place to brunch in Cleveland
